300 Kids Visit the Farm.

On Tuesday September 12, The farm was all abuzz when the 3rd and 5th grade classes of Mora Elementary school had a field trip to Sapsucker Farms. The morning session was the 5th grade classes and the afternoon session was the 3rd grade classes.

The event was organized by the Kanabec County U of M Extension Master Gardeners and the teachers of Fairview elementary school with a grant from the Mora Education Foundation.

We established four stations and after 20 minutes, the whistle blew and the kids rotated to the next station. The four stations included:

Honey bees and native prairie

Apple orchard and chickens

Maple syrup and mushrooms

Hoop house with season extension growing

When the tour was done, everyone went home with a honey bear. A fun day for all.

Dilbert has Arrived.

Back in January of this year, we had to say “good bye” to our dear, sweet Dori who owned our hearts for 12 year. Even though Dori will never be replaced, we have welcomed a new fury member of the family. Just like Dori, (and Nika, and Belle, and Wee Gee who preceded Dori) Dilbert is a German Wirehaired Pointer. He joined the family at Sapsucker Farms on June 9th, but we have pictures from his early puppyhood with his nine sisters as well.
