Honey

Honeybees are incredibly fascinating little critters and have truly captured our hearts. It’s rather odd to say this, considering that these little buggers are willing to inflict pain on us if we get in their way, and yet at the same time, we feel so bad for that little bee who just stung one of us since she just sacrificed her life to defend her home.

2007 was the first year we extracted honey. Our harvest was small so the honey has gone quickly. We currently have nine Buckfast Honeybee colonies, with plans to expand to up to 20 colonies in 2008. If all goes well (healthy colonies, no drought, favorable weather, and other factors) we hope to have a lot of honey to offer in the next season.
